ARTIST ON STYLE

SCIENTIFICALLY ORGANIC IS MY THING

My Acrylic Water-media paintings are painted on paper that is made of cotton fiber, held together with porcelain clay. This Museum Quality, allows for a greater lifetime than if the paintings were painted on paper, made of wood fiber. Many of my paintings are also painted on traditional stretched canvas, or canvas board.

Acrylic paint is most often made of the same mineral pigments as oil paints, but unlike oil paints, they are not slowly oxidizing or burning up in our Oxygen/Nitrogen atmosphere. This allows the paintings to stay vibrant and not yellow and fade over time.

For centuries artists have had to use plaster, or egg whites (tempera), or linseed oil as the soluble binder or medium that they used to apply the paint. Many of the techniques that I use to paint are personal discoveries, that might only be possible using acrylic paint. A technique becomes an additional tool that a skilled artist can then use to create powerful art.

I like to discover ways to create beauty that have never before been seen.

I have researched and then created many different kinds of Art.

People and Art critics love to label artists as doing only a certain type of art. Most famous artists are known for that one type,  specific to what they mostly do. You wouldn't expect or recognize a portrait from Artist Jackson Pollock for example.

My own work has evolved several distinct styles instead of just one. I live and breathe art and I am constantly thinking about new possibilities that have never before been done. The way to best describe who I am as an Artist for that reason is Scientifically Organic. With new discoveries leading to new styles.

A chance to own an original piece of art from an artist that has garnered attention from an early age, a must have for any serious art collector. 40 years ago Joshua Stevens represented Colorado as the State Artist when his Painting of the State Bird became an official part of the Colorado State Capitol. His work appears in collections from around the world.
